Uncle Cheef turns ONE YEAR old!!! What a wonderful and wild year it’s been! We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than inviting some of our all time favorite artists for an evening of joyous boogie and togetherness. JD Smoothe, our royal vocalist in residence this evening is gonna tear the roof off with his electric, high energy, acrobatic style and we just know you’re gonna instantly fall in love. Guitarist emeritus and bandleader Al Street is no stranger to the Uncle Cheef stage as he’s held court many a night tearing it up and laying it down with our illustrious house band “Grease Patrol”
One 90 minute magical set at 7:30pm, some blurry speeches and lots of dancing and carrying on is what this night is gonna be all about. Come help us celebrate!!!
JD Smoothe, born in Brooklyn, New York, emerged as a talented singer at a young age. He embarked on a musical journey across New York’s iconic venues like The Village Underground and Apollo Theater. JD’s versatility shines in hits like “Earth Angel”, “Let’s Stay Together”, and “Dark Skin Girls”. His repertoire extends to R&B, sharing the stage with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, among others. Inspired by artists like Stevie Wonder, JD Smoothe credits his strength to God, pledging to keep delivering authentic music to his growing fan base. Keep an eye out for JD Smoothe; he’s a force to be reckoned with!
Al Street has earned a reputation as one of the world’s top professional guitarists through years of touring and recording with legends such as Lee Fields, The Sugarman 3, Marva Whitney, Bob Beldon, and many many more. The legendary bandleader and drummer for the Roots, Questlove described Mr Street as having “perfect rhythym”. Al brings a relaxed intensity to the bandstand that permeates every soul his art touches. Never predictable, always on time. The one and the only, look both ways before you cross him… Al Street.
