Greater Bridgeport Symphony (GBS) and guest conductor Eduardo Leandro invite you to laugh, sing, and celebrate at GBS’ big holiday concert Uniting at Yuletide on Saturday, December 16 at The Klein in Bridgeport – get tickets HERE.

“We really want this to be fun from start to finish,” says Leandro.  “We have some great Classical pieces that are holiday favorites, like selections from The Nutcracker and some Bach and Strauss, plus Harry Potter, ‘Sleigh Ride,’ ‘Let It Snow!,’ ‘White Christmas,’ and other popular songs.”  Local CT favorite Maureen Hamill and friends will sing and lead some singalong pieces.  “Chanukah Festival Overture” will be performed, featuring iconic strains of ancient Hebrew music as well as lively tunes like “The Dreidel Song.”  Says Leandro, “We want everyone to be with friends and have a good time!”

GBS President Mark Halstead added, “We haven’t had a December concert with this much good old-fashioned fun in a long time.  Our audience has been asking for it, and we’re going to make this concert something families can really enjoy together.”   GBS Executive Director Phyllis Cortese said, “Think of the challenging times we’ve all endured these past few years, and now with the holidays upon us, GBS brings a welcome opportunity to gather together as a community, singing and enjoying this special music and uniting with family and friends.  GBS thinks of our audience and our musicians as family and bringing us all together with many new friends at The Klein warms my heart.”

Leandro will be playing his third concert as Principal Guest Conductor, while he and other candidates are being evaluated for the permanent position of GBS Music Director.  Leandro opened GBS’ 78th season on October 14 with a spirited musical line-up that proudly celebrated his Brazilian heritage, including the conductor himself soloing on Rosauro’s “Marimba Concerto” and concluding with West Side Story’s “Symphonic Suite.”  On November 11, GBS offered an evening of Mozart, splitting the bill between opera arias and Mozart’s powerful “Jupiter Symphony.”  Veterans and their families were offered free ticket packages and were honored by a special rendition of the National Anthem sung by soprano Jessica Rizzio and Thomas Woodman.

Tickets for the December 16 show range from $18.00 to $65.00 and are available at www.GBS.org/tickets or by calling (203)576-0263.  GBS offers special Family Pack Deals where tickets for kids under 19 are $10.00, any seat in the house, and accompanying adults get 15% off their tickets.  Those are available by calling (203)576-0263. Three-Concert Bronze Subscriptions are still available ranging from $45.90 to $165.75 (discounted from $54.00 to $195.00 regular price).
