Westchester Bluegrass Club is thrilled to present an extraordinary evening of music featuring Michael Daves and Nate Sabat—two of the most innovative and compelling voices in modern bluegrass.
Michael Daves, a Grammy-nominated artist, is known for his electrifying guitar playing, high-lonesome vocals, and boundary-pushing approach to bluegrass. Raised in Georgia and now a cornerstone of New York City’s roots music scene, Michael has collaborated with legends like Chris Thile, Steve Martin, and Tony Trischka. His album Sleep With One Eye Open (with Thile) was Grammy-nominated, and Orchids and Violence showcased his genius in blending traditional and experimental bluegrass. With over 25 years of teaching experience, he’s not only a performer but also a mentor to the next generation of musicians.
Joining him is Nate Sabat, a virtuosic bassist, singer-songwriter, and arranger whose groundbreaking work has been featured on NPR’s Radiolab and at Carnegie Hall. His debut solo album, Bass Fiddler, produced by Bruce Molsky, redefines the role of the upright bass in folk music, intertwining intricate arrangements with stunning vocals. With a résumé that includes performances at Celtic Connections and the Savannah Music Festival, Nate’s artistry is both deeply rooted in tradition and refreshingly modern.
Together, Michael and Nate promise a night of dazzling musicianship, heartfelt storytelling, and bluegrass like you’ve never heard before. Don’t miss this rare chance to see them live—mark your calendars for April 13th!
