CauseCafe featuring
“John Des Marais”
singer, songwriter, guitar & piano

Minnesota-born singer-songwriter John Des Marais has been performing in the greater New York area since 2001.  He is a classically-trained singer who has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the National Opera Center, Symphony Space, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, and Yankee Stadium.   He has composed music for art exhibits, television pilots, podcasts, websites, and videogame projects, and has sung for film and television, most recently for the HBO/MAX series The Gilded Age.   A multi-instrumentalist (“a master of none,” he readily admits), he has been known to accompany himself on numerous instruments, but chiefly piano and guitar.  His songs range from poignant to playful, containing elements of blues, jazz, classic rock, roots, and occasionally bluegrass, often with gothic undertones.

CauseCafe is the Cafe with a Cause! This month we are featuring ASK – Alliance for Safe Kids – an organization that is a clearing house for organizations and services to help Kids in crisis – from suicide to abuses and many more.

Three Saturdays a month we feature local musicians for musical entertainment. We provide wonderful desserts and snacks along with cafe beverages (non-alcoholic) like coffees, teas, etc. All refreshments are offered for a suggested donation price. Every penny that we receive from these donations goes to a selected cause for the month. We carefully select from local, regional, national and sometimes global not for profit organizations that help people in need or distress. Come enjoy an evening of excellent entertainment in a warm, safe and welcoming venue and have a snack (or sometimes chili or soup!) and help a worthy cause at the same time!
